Mixed Media Collage Workshops with Bricque Garber
(there will be a different theme each month, listed below)

Days: Sundays
Dates: January 22 // February 19 (Presidents' Day weekend) // March 26 // April 23 // May 21 // June 11 // July 23  // August 27
Time: 10:00AM-2:00PM
Location: Art Barn Painting Studio
Fee: $110 includes all materials* (students are encouraged to bring their own paper, photos, fabric, pictures, stencils & stamps). *Please bring scissors and a small (baby-food size) jar with a lid and scissors.

Mixed media collage is a visual representation made from an assembly of different forms, materials and sources to create a new whole.
A Collage or Mixed Media piece may include paint, news paper clippings or pictures, ribbons, threads or yarns, bits of colored paper or hand made papers, portions of other artwork, photographs and such... glued or otherwise affixed to a canvas or other solid support surfaces.

It’s super fun and foolproof. Many previous attendees have amazed themselves with the results of their creations.  The process is totally forgiving allowing for renovation and revision.  Your creative juices will flow in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

We are planning a workshop every month, throughout the winter and spring and each will have a different theme to help provide some focus.

June theme: Smell the sea and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly. - Van Morrison
As we move into summer we are seeing the water in a new way. Aside from pull of the sunrise and set, we are drawn to the feel & taste of salty sea. Seascapes are the life blood of artist’s expressions. I encourage you to look at the sea and bring your ideas for color, shape and texture in paint paper and other bits and pieces.

Visiting Artist Workshop: Mixed Media Decoupage with Jenn Sherr
Date: Saturday, July 15
Time: 10:00AM-12:00PM
Location: Art Barn Painting Studio
Fee: $55

Come learn a modern approach to decoupage and faux painting in this one day decoupage workshop. Get creative and transform a houseware object into a unique, personalized piece. Jenn will also guide anyone interested in using glass and reverse decoupage. You will learn to apply layers of paper “upside down” and build them into a one-off design: your own work of art on a plate! You will be guided through the design process and shown the tricks involved in applying layers of thin paper to a glass surface (and the glass dish will be food safe, as we apply the paper to the back and then seal it with a waterproof adhesive). Suggested materials to bring include paper and wrapping paper of your choice, magazines for cutting and laser color copies of any photographs you would like to use, along with your household furniture/object or glass dish/plate/bowl.

Paper Folding and Origami Workshop with Amy Custis and Daisy Lifton
Date: Saturday, February 11
Time: 10:00AM-2:00PM
Location: Art Barn Painting Studio
Fee: $110 includes materials. Please bring these items to class if you have them: ruler, pencil, eraser, sharp scissors.

Winter doldrums?  Cabin Fever?  Learn a new skill that you can refine on those snowy weekends!
Whether planning a party or decorating a gift, origami provides an elegant and delicate accent.  People who see and touch something that you have shaped or folded, will feel the love.  The magic of origami is that, as you take the time to do origami, you will relax and carve a peaceful moment out of a busy day.

In this class, Amy and Daisy will cover both the basics of paper folding techniques and origami, completing models that can be used on a gift package or at your holiday table. Instruction is for all levels. Origami papers will be provided along with most of the tools you will need. You to have a chance to become familiar with different papers, designs, and directions, and will leave with a sense of how to access origami materials and instructions online.
Students will have the opportunity to complete 4 small projects to take home, and will have the new skills to complete many more in the future.
