Children’s Art Instructors Featherstone Center for the Arts seeks practicing artists and/or school teachers with experience teaching children ages 4 and older for part-time teaching opportunities: as co-teacher for a weekly after school class for children in 3rd - 6th grades (Wednesdays, 3:30pm - 5:30pm); and for co-teaching our 4-5 year old weekly summer camp (Mondays through Fridays, 9am - 12pm, June 15 - August 7). Featherstone instructors uphold our mission by providing engaging learning opportunities through art and creativity.
Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching art to children.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, including the ability to work effectively with educators, as well as with diverse groups of students.
The drive to solve problems creatively and independently.
Degree in Art, Art Education, Education or related field preferred.
Responsibilities:
Teach age appropriate art based classes, encouraging students to apply their observations, reflections, critical thinking, and creativity to making their own works of art.
Implement effective classroom management strategies and an organized class structure.
Communicate effectively with other instructors and administrative staff, while following all Featherstone procedures.
Schedule and Pay: This is an hourly position, paid $35 per hour of instruction. Camp instructors are paid 20 hours per week (to include set up and clean up time), for 8 weeks of the summer season.

Figure Models Life Drawing, our open studio with live models is offered on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30PM - 4:00PM. There is no instructor for this class which has draped and undraped models that vary in age, sex, and body type each week. Figure models pose nude in an adult studio environment as a subject for student artists learning to make drawings, paintings and related artworks. Pay per session: $80
Essential Functions & Qualifications:
Pose nude or draped for fine art drawing/painting
Provide a full range of traditional and creative poses, from gestures to sustained poses
Maintain poses for a fixed period of time
Minimum eighteen years old
Comfortable posing nude in small and large group sessions
Physical Requirements: Model platform is raised and models must be able to get up and down from 1 foot platform without assistance. Figure models will be required to hold expressive, animated, and sustained poses throughout the 2.5 hour session.
Featherstone is looking for new instructors to help develop and broaden our adult programming. We are accepting resumes/CVs for instructors to teach workshops and classes in oil, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, encaustics, mosaics, stained glass, glass fusion and more.
