CHILDREN'S SUMMER ART CLASSES
Afternoon Art

Come explore at Featherstone! During the summer months, in addition to Summer Art Camp, we offer Afternoon Art classes. Each week day features a different medium - these two hour afternoon classes are a fun option to explore printmaking, crafts, jewelry, collage and ceramics for children ages 7 and older (9 for jewelry).

Summer 2022 - Afternoon Art

*Beaded Bracelets on Wednesdays and Ceramics on Fridays have been extended through the end of August!*

Wednesdays: Beaded Bracelets (for children ages 9+)
with Anita Musicant
Day: Wednesdays
Dates: July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10, 17, (no 24), 31
Time: 1:00PM - 3:00PM
Location: Jewelry Studio
Fee: $45 per class, includes all materials
During this 2 hour class, participants will have the opportunity to design their own Memory Wire bracelet. No sizing needed! They will select from a wide range of shapes, sizes and color beads.

They will also learn the art of knotting by making a second bracelet out of paracord. These are sometimes known as Survival Bracelets and are similar to ones worn by military personnel. Select from another wide range of colors.

Fridays: Ceramics (for children ages 7+)
with Nancy Blank and Sabrina Kuchta
Day: Fridays
Dates: July 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5, 12, 19, 26
Time: 1:00 to 3:00PM
Location: Pottery Studio
Fee: $30 per class

In this class, we will explore various techniques in hand building and wheel throwing. From decorative planters to dragons to mugs, students will learn and experiment with multiple techniques in construction and decoration of functional and sculptural pieces.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: 
All artwork will be bisque fired after each class, which takes an additional 2 weeks before pick up. Children under eight will not be permitted to use the ceramic wheels. No exceptions.

Mondays: Printmaking (for children ages 7+)
with Allison Doherty
Day: Mondays 
Dates: July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8

Time: 1:00PM - 3:00PM
Location: Printmaking Studio
Cost: $30 per class 
​
These classes will introduce young artists to some printmaking techniques, while encouraging them to find their artistic voices. Safe mastery of tools and materials will be covered and all materials are provided. Bring a snack.

Tuesdays: Traditional Crafts (for children ages 7+)
with Helen Hall
Day: Tuesdays 
Dates: July 5, 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9
Time: 1:00PM - 3:00PM
Location: Children's Studio
Cost: $30 per class

Explore traditional summer camp "arts & crafts" including tie-dye, macramé, pot holder weaving and friendship bracelets to name a few.

Explore collage with mixed media materials - bring any photographs, magazines, special papers and/or journals you would like to work with, or use supplies we provide!
