Children's Art Classes

Come explore at Featherstone! We offer art classes for children ages 3 years and older.

School year 2024-2025 classes begin the last week of September. Registration for Session 1 will open Friday, August 30th at 5PM.

Adventures in Art (ages 3-5)
with Helen Hall and Buffy Carroll
Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays
Dates: session dates listed below (sessions are by day of the week)
Time: 3:15PM - 5:30PM
Location: Children’s Art Studio
Fee: $150 per 4 week session / $185 per 5 week session / $225 per 6 week session
Materials provided. Students should bring a nut-free snack.

Art is all around us on the Featherstone campus. Join us as we investigate our campus and learn elements of art and mix media during our art afternoon explorations designed just for the preschooler. A wide range of art experiences will be offered where students will utilize different materials and techniques, all designed to build confidence and experiment with creativity, while also enriching basic fine motor skill development. Our ideas will develop as the seasons change. “Anything can happen, and that’s the beauty of art.”

Art Explorers (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)

As Featherstone’s Art Explorers, children will be introduced to functional design, aesthetics and creative problem solving using Form, Shape, and Space as their guides. Each artist will have the opportunity to utilize a variety of mediums including Collage, Drawing, Fiber Arts, Mixed Media, Murals, Painting, Paper Making, Printmaking and Sculpture to help find their visual voice and further their creative self-expression.

Creative Spark (3rd - 6th Grade)

Location: Art Barn Painting Studio
Fee: $150 per 5 week session / $180 per 6 week session
Materials provided. Students should bring a nut-free snack.

Artists will be encouraged to observe the world around them and have the opportunity to create and color their own worlds. Students will explore their creative spark with ceramic hand building led by Sabrina Kuchta and Avery Miner, working on varied clay projects such as animals, fairy houses and creatively decorated mugs!

*NEW* Art in the Studio (7th Grade and older)

Location: Printmaking Studio
Fee: $150 per 5 week session / $180 per 6 week session

Artists will be invited to explore their own creativity in this mixed media class. With a focus on printmaking and silk-screening, this class is for any students who are interested in experimenting in printmaking, drawing, and painting.

Children's Needlework Fiber Arts (ages 7-12)

Day: Saturdays
Dates: September 28, October 5, 26, November 2
Time: 11:00AM - 1:00PM
Location: Children's Art Studio
Fee: $30 per class

Needlework is often used to describe the many forms of fiber art which include sewing, embroidery, latch hook, needlepoint, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, needle felting to name a few. Anything that uses a needle or hook for construction, can be called needlework. Drop in for a Saturday session where we will learn a few basic sewing skills and work on a project to complete and take home.

Children's Ceramic Exploration (ages 7+)
with Nancy Blank and Sabrina Kuchta
Day: Saturdays
Dates: October 19, 26, November 2, 16, 23, December 7
Time: 2:00PM - 4:00PM
Location: Pottery Studio
Fee: $30 per class

In this class, students will explore various techniques in hand building. From decorative planters to dragons to mugs, children will learn and experiment with multiple techniques in construction and decoration of functional and sculptural pieces.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:
All artwork will be bisque fired after each class, which takes an additional 2 weeks before pick up. This is a hand building class, no wheels will be used.
