​Pre-registration is required for classes & workshops - please register online below or call  508-693-1850.
Minimum age requirement for adult jewelry classes is 14 years old unless otherwise noted.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:
Please read all class descriptions and be aware of age, skill level and materials requirements in ADVANCE of registering for any classes and workshops. Featherstone does not issue refunds unless we cancel the class due to low enrollment.

The Art of Beading with Lucinda Sheldon
Day: Tuesdays
Dates: February 18, / March 4, 18 / April 1, 15, 29 / May 6, 13, 20, 27 / June 3, (Monday June 9), 17, 24 / July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 / August 5, 12, 19, 26

Ages 13+ welcome
                
​Come explore Featherstone's extensive bead collection and create your own special necklace, bracelet or earrings. Techniques taught include choosing appropriate stringing materials, finishing techniques, the classic technique of pearl and bead knotting, wire twisting and basic design. Stringing materials and a variety of gemstone and other unique beads are included but students can also bring their own if they wish.

Basics of Silversmithing: Earrings or Pendant with Liam McGorman
Day: Tuesdays
Date: February 26 // May 6 // May 20 // July 1 // August 5 
​Time: 4:00PM - 7:00PM  
Location: Jewelry Studio 
Fee: $95, includes materials

Come create your own pair of silver earrings or a necklace pendant while learning basic metal smithing skills. You will make a pair of argentium silver (fine 93.7% silver) earrings or necklace pendant by filing, shaping and imprinting the argentium, then forming before soldering a 1/2 bead as decorative accent (or to attach earring posts). You will drill holes and attach ear hooks, or a jump ring for a pendant to complete your project. All levels welcome, beginner friendly!

Basics of Silversmithing: Triple Twisted Cuff  with Liam McGorman
Day: Tuesdays
Date: June 17 // July 22 // August 26
​Time: 4:00PM - 7:00PM  
Location: Jewelry Studio 
Fee: $95, includes materials
​

Students will learn how to create a triple twisted cuff bracelet while covering basic metal smithing skills. Argentium silver (fine 93.7% silver) wire will be twisted and manipulated to create your triple band design, with the end caps finished by soldering. All levels welcome, beginner friendly!

Stamped Ring Workshop with Ivry Russillo
Date: Wednesday, June 18
​Time: 3:00PM - 5:00PM  
Location: Jewelry Studio 
Fee: $45 for copper ($65 for silver)

Students will learn how to measure using a traditional ring gauge and cut a piece of copper or sterling silver metal sheet to size using the metric system. You will be introduced to soldering, which is an essential part of jewelry fabrication, and the ring bands will be decorated with letter and design stampings. Students will learn how to use a jewelers saw to cut the proper length, and will then file, sand, solder, stamp and polish to create a one of a kind ring. Beginners welcome, ages 18+.

Enameling on Copper and Silver Cloisonné Workshops with David Kuchta and Lucinda Sheldon
​Day: Saturdays 
Dates: May 3 (Copper) // May 17 (Silver) // June 14 (Copper) // June 21: (Silver) // July 12 (Silver) // July 26 (Copper) // August 9 (Silver) // August 30 (Copper)
​Time: 2:00PM - 5:00PM for Copper Workshops / 10:00AM - 1:00PM for Silver Cloisonné Workshops
Location: Jewelry Studio
Fee: $75 for Copper / $85 for Silver for each 3 hour workshop. Includes materials; wooden boxes for enamel pieces are an additional $35.​

Enameling is an ancient art form applying powdered glass to metal and firing it by fusing in a kiln or with a torch. Learn to sift, stencil, stamp and appliqué enamel to create a one-of-a-kind piece. During the copper workshops you will have the opportunity to make either an ornament, pendant, tiny bowl, earrings or square piece to be inset in a handmade wooden box (sold separately). In the cloisonné workshops, students will create their design using silver wire on a round silver piece which can either be turned into a pendant or inset in a wooden box (sold separately. These workshops are suitable for beginners as well as advanced students wishing to build upon skills.

Flower Earrings Workshop with Ivry Russillo
Date: Wednesday, May 28
​Time: 4:00PM - 6:30PM

Fee: $75 for brass ($95 for silver), includes all materials

Celebrate The Art of Flowers during our annual exhibit in May by creating your own floral dangle earrings in brass or sterling silver. ​Students will learn how design transfer, and brass (or silver) sheet metal will be manipulated by hand sawing, filing, stamping and drilling. Gold filled earring hooks (or silver) will be provided to finish your project.. Beginners welcome, ages 18+.  A great introduction to beginning metal works.

Flower Pendant Necklace Workshop with Ivry Russillo
Date: Wednesday, May 14
​Time: 4:00PM - 6:00PM  
Location: Jewelry Studio 
Fee: $70 for brass, includes gold fill chain and all materials ($85 for silver)

Celebrate The Art of Flowers during our annual exhibit in May by creating your own flower necklace! Students will learn how to fabricate a floral designed pendant from scratch. You will transfer a hand sketched design onto brass sheet metal, a good amount of time will be spent hand sawing the flower with a jeweler’s saw, and then you will be filing, stamping, drilling, and forming. The finished pendant will be mounted onto a gold filled chain (or sterling silver if silver option chosen) provided in class. You will walk away with one floral pendant necklace ready to wear! A nice intro to metalworks and open to beginners, ages 18+.

Cloisonné Enameling Course with Lucinda Sheldon
Days: Saturdays
​Dates: March 8, 15, 22
Time: 10:00AM - 12:00PM
Location: Jewelry Studio
Fee: $160 for 3 week course includes 1.5” square piece of fine silver, cloisonné wire provided. Wooden boxes to set enamel pieces in are an extra $35.​

Cloisonné involves designing with silver wire using transparent enamels on fine .999 silver. In this 3 class course, you will learn how to design and enamel a 1.5” fine silver square. This piece may be mounted on a wooden box or framed (box and frame are not included in course).

Week One:
  • Line drawing to fit the 1.5” fine silver square 
  • Copy line drawing with fine silver cloisonne wire 
  • Counter fire the 1.5” silver square
Week Two:
  • Apply formed silver wires to top of 1.5” square
  • Begin coloring in design with wet packed enamel
  • (Each piece can take as many as ten firings to complete)
Week Three:
  • Continue with any enameling to complete your piece
  • Learn finishing techniques and set finished enamel in box or frame.

​*Dress Code: For safety reasons we ask everyone to comply with the dress code policy for the Jewelry Studio: Closed-toe footwear (no sandals), pants/shorts must go below the knee, long hair must be pulled back from the face and secured. Wear a headband or a hat if your hair can’t be tied back.
