Julia Blanter, author of the new Martha's Vineyard Cookbook, will lead a delicious discussion on food influences, recipe inspiration, and what makes Martha's Vineyard such a world-class culinary destination, joined by contributors Juli Vanderhoop, owner of Orange Peel Bakery, Katie Leaird, owner of Martha's Vineyard Pasta Farm, and Korilee Connelly, baker at Mo's Lunch. Guests will receive a complimentary sweet treat featured in the cookbook. The reading will take place in The Francine Kelly Gallery in Featherstone's Art Barn followed by a Q&A and book signing. Cookbooks will be available for purchase from Edgartown Books. Julia Blanter is a year-round Martha’s Vineyard resident with deep connections to the island’s culinary community. With extensive experience across the food industry, Blanter’s love of food has taken her into kitchens and restaurants all around the world.
Juli Vanderhoop is a Wampanoag tribal elder and community builder. In 2006, she opened Orange Peel Bakery in Aquinnah, hosting community pizza nights in the summer, where strangers become friends over pies wood-fired in the beautiful French clay oven that Juli herself built. Katie Leaird is a recipe developer, food writer, and owner of Martha's Vineyard Pasta Farm. With an impressive culinary background, working in restaurants on both coasts and in Italy, Katie offers her fresh pastas at the West Tisbury Farmer's Market and Edgartown Village Market. Born and raised on Martha's Vineyard, Korilee Connelly is a self-taught baker and former head baker at Morning Glory Farm. At Mo's Lunch, Korilee crafts whimsical cookies, cakes, donuts, and other sweet treats inspired by local and seasonal flavors. |
